Change Is In The Air - New Programming at P1AG Church

In Matthew 9:16-17 Jesus shares an analogy about an unshrunk patch of material to an old set of pants, because when the patch eventually shrinks it will pull away from the material.  He goes onto to talk about how pouring new wine into old wine skins will cause the old wine skins to burst, because they have already been stretched to their capacity.  He explains the right process saying, "...they pour new wine into new wine skins, and both are preserved.

God has been stirring up vision among us here at P1AG for some new things that he is wanting to do  and these new things require new wine skins in order to carry them.  We are so privileged to have a God who is continually refreshing us with new ideas and new ways of accomplishing His mission of love - first in Loving God, then in Loving Each Other better and finally in how we Love the People of Our World.

Greater Emphasis on Going and Giving - LOVING THE PEOPLE OF OUR WORLD
At the close of the last year we began talking about our plans to revamp our efforts to Love the People of Our World.  Our strategy of missions giving and outreach has been simplified in order to maximize our churches connection and participation with those we support and the local outreaches that we are involved in.  We are raising money for ministries in India, Africa, China as well as local missions like Grace Mission (Drug/ Alcohol Addiction), Chi Alpha on the Campus of A-state as well as Youth Alive in Arkansas (outreach to Jr. Sr. High campuses).

Our Youth and Kids are also getting involved by raising money for missions.  Our kids will be raisning money and giving toward BGMC (Boys and Girls Missions Crusade), which provides teach =ing materials for our Assemblies of God Missionaries at home and abroad.  Our teenagers are raising money and giving toward Speed the Light (STL) which provides vechicles and sound equipment to our Assemblies of God Missionaries in their respective fields.

We are also planning a summer missions trip from our church to Houston, a sports camp for kids in our community this summer and our annual outreaches at Easter and Halloween.  We are so pleased that to date over $8,000 has been pledged by our people toward our $26,830 Missions, Benevolence and Outreach Budget (MBO).

God more recently has been stirring us to refine our efforts as a church to promote our Objective of Loving God and Loving Each Other better.  So we took a hard look at our programming and made some decisions to restructure some things in order to live out these purposes and values better as a Church Body.

Greater Emphasis on Prayer and His Presence - LOVING GOD
As of March 18 we will begin to have a corporate Prayer and Prep Gathering every Sunday morning beginning at 9:45 - 10 AM for all that are inclined to come (ministry leaders and volunteers are required to participate) and intercede and prepare for the ministry that we will be doing that morning in our Sunday Worship Gathering at 10:30 AM.  We will end at 10 AM so that our ministry teams (Worship Team, Kids Church Team, Nursery Workers, Hospitality Team, etc.) can prepare for their respective roles that morning.

On Sunday Nights we will continue to emphasize a deeper sense of God's presence and seeking Him in our weekly Prayer Gathering at 5 PM.  During our Prayer Gathering we spend a majority of the time worshiping and praying with purpose based upon instruction from scripture.

9:45 - 10 AM - Prayer and Prep Gathering

Leadership Transition For Our Youth

Pastor Devin and Ashley have some big changes coming their way.  Along with a new baby coming, the couple is following the call of God to move to Bentonville to pursue some new opportunities and to be closer to family in NW Arkansas.  Their final Sunday with us will be on May 7, 2017 where Devin will be speaking and we will be taking a Love Offering for them.  We are sad to see Devin and Ashley move away, but excited to see what God is going to do in and through them.

We are very excited to announce that Philip and Mary Beth Gardner have accepted the role of pastoring our teenagers and leading IMPACT Student Ministries here at P1AG.

Philip and Mary Beth have been married since February, 2012.  They both graduated from University of Arkansas (Woo Pig).  Philip is a History Teacher at Osceola High School and Mary Beth is a 5th and 6th Grade Social Studies Teacher for the Buffalo Island Central School District in Leachville.  Mary Beth grew up in the home of a Pastor. Her parents pastor Plummerville Faith Assembly of God in Plummerville, AR. Philip and Mary Beth met each other in her parents church at that time.

The Gardners are not new to P1AG or to our Youth Group.  They have been attending P1AG for a couple years.  In the summer of 2016 they chaperoned for our teens at Youth Camp and hosted a Back To School Lock-in later that summer.  Mary Beth has also been a part of our worship team and occasionally sings special music.

New Roof Miracle

We have an urgent need as a church.  Recently we had a representative from our insurance company come and inspect our facilities.  It became apparent by our discussion with him that our 26 year old roof on our main building may not be covered in the event of its failure.  We as a Church Board decided that we need to move forward on replacing our roof now so that we do not face a situation down the road that would leave us in a state of catastrophic loss.

We secured a bid on our roof earlier this year as we have been planning on saving for this eventual maintenance necessity. The bid was for about $30,000, we are also entertaining some other bids as well.  After speaking with this insurance representative, the replacing of our roof moved from an eventual project to a need that requires immediate attention.

We have decided to pray and ask the Lord to move through our people and friends of our house over the course of the next month to provide for this need.  We have asked our people to give out of unexpected funds that they may receive this next month, to perhaps sell some things that are sitting around and are of no use to them anymore, and to prayerfully ask the Lord what would you have me sacrifice in this next month to help take care of this need.  We are setting April 30 as the deadline for us to move forward and are believing for a $30,000 financial miracle.  We would like to avoid having to borrow money, but if this need is not met through contributions we will be forced to borrow those monies due to the urgency of making sure that this need is met.

Would you consider a gift toward this important need?  We appreciate any donations that you would be willing to provide.  Also will you pray with us that the Lord would provide to meet this need through any and all means possible for Him.  Thank you so much.

Bob Kilpatrick in Concert

Bob Kilpatrick will be in Concert at P1AG on Sunday, January 29 at 10:30 AM

About Bob:

Bob Kilpatrick speaks at churches and conferences around the world. His first book, Secrets of the Silence, was released summer, ’09, and his first hardback book, The Art of Being You, was published by Zondervan in December, 2010. Musicians from Phil Keaggy to Sara Groves have benefited from Bob’s skills in the studio. Still, most people were introduced to Bob’s ministry through his worship songs. At least two of Bob Kilpatrick’s songs are consistently listed in the “Classic” worship song category- “Lord Be Glorified” and “Here Am I (Send Me To The Nations)”. Though these songs keep popping up on the “Greatest Hits” lists, there are many other tunes for which Bob is known- “God Is Good,” “Won By One,” “Sold Out And Radical” and “I Will Not Be Ashamed” among them. His song “Bring Them Home” was sung at Mother Teresa’s funeral service in Calcutta, India (Hillary Clinton mentioned to the singer how touched she was by the song!) Bob has been in full time ministry since he was seventeen. Over the years he has co-labored with a veritable ministry “Who’s Who”, including Dr. Jack Hayford, Dr. Lloyd John Ogilvie, Corrie ten Boom, Michael W. Smith, Lincoln Brewster, Anne Graham Lotz, Keith Green, Phil Keaggy and Andrae Crouch. He has produced other artists recordings, working with people like Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill, Sara Groves and Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul & Mary.) He has spoken at many national conferences (Saddleback Worship conference), universities (Wheaton) and Christian music festivals (Spirit West Coast, Creation). Starting in 1987, Bob’s “Time Out with Bob Kilpatrick” devotional program aired three times daily to over 2 million listeners. For nearly 15 years Bob wrote a popular column for Christian Musician magazine. His writings also have appeared, Youth Specialties, CCM, Relevant magazine & is an ordained minister, and the third inductee into the Assemblies of God Hall of Honor. He is married to Cindy, his high school sweetheart. They have five children and live in Fair Oaks, California. “My desire is to serve the Church in any way that God allows. This was not a career choice for me, it was, and is, a calling. I am a servant. With God’s grace, that’s what I’ll always be.”

Annual Church Member's Business Meeting
